Ring neck parrots rescue operation

New construction project started near my home. Many coconut trees was cut down.
Some had ring necked parrots nests.
One off my friend rescued some of young birds and takes care in his house.
Those rescued birds will be let free once they are grown up.
I was surprised when I saw the group of small rescued parrots at his home.
They are very cute and play full.
I also wanted to help these rescued birds.
Handling the little ones is not a easy task. We should take care of the young one's carefully and hand feed them.
I had a chance to help some young one's.
I learnt lots of things about these young ring neck parrots.
I had chance to come across some of there extreme characteristics during their growing phases.

Nesting of Parrots in City

Parrots in our city have greatest threats on there nesting.
I am staying in the western part of Chennai.
We can easily spot ring neck parrots at our area during morning and evening times.
Usually parrots build their nest in tall trees. They make nests by creating holes in trees.
Rapid construction of buildings becomes greater threat to the natural surrounding.
Lots of trees are cut down day by day, which makes life of the birds in the city very difficult. Adult birds can switch off the location if there nests are demolished but young birds cannot survive during these kind of situations :’(

A day at Jurong bird park

I had a chance to go to Singapore, 3 yrs back.
Jurong Bird Park is a cool park with lots of variety of birds in it.
It's the worlds largest bird park : ) .
There is a separate section of talking birds : )
There will be list of words written near each birds cage. The birds will speak those mentioned words. It will be cute to hear birds speaking. I had a thought only parrots can talk. But I was stunned seeing other birds talking too.
Birds talks are really interesting to listen. It will make us happier definitely.
Some trained birds showed there awesome skills.
I had a great time there.
There was a cool spot in the park where lots of colorful parrots will be present and you can feed them by hand. The feed will be in semi liquid state filled in a small cup.
Parrots will come and sit in our hand, and eat the feed from the cup.
It will be awesome to see them very closer. I felt the magical parrot effect at that time.
I never had such kind of experience till that time.

Days with King Fisher

The King fisher is an awesome cute bird with great hunting skills.
Its very rate to sight king fishers in the city.
I saw few crows attacking a king fisher at my back yard.
It got hurt and was very tired and it struggled a lot to fly.
There was slight bleeding in its leg and some of its feathers are plucked by the crows. I rescued it from the crows. It’s a mid sized bird.
It had a very sharp beak & claws.
It was shivering when I took it.
I kept in my room and gave some water and fruits.
It’s a bright blue bird with magnificent shiny feathers. its leg was dark brown.
I took it at evening, till morning it struggled to walk and it did not have any food.
After a day is passed it started to recover. It started taking small amount of food.
Its claws are very sharp, it can hurt a bit on our skin even when it walks over our hand.
If it holds the fish, part of its claws will definitely penetrate the skin.
During hunting of the fishes, it's so quick with high precision aim.
For two to three days it slowly recovered and fourth day it was strong enough to fly.
The sure shot hunter took off its adventurous flight, to continue the high speed catches.
I was very happy to see the little bird flying.
When I rescued the bird, I was 11 yrs. Still I remember the beautiful cute hunter.

Cute little finch

My first bird pet is finch’s. when I was 6 yrs old I had a pair of small finch’s.
They are cute little birds with sweet voice.
They are black and yellow combination finch’s.
I had the pair for 6 months. One day one of them took off, when I was feeding it.
I was very young to handle birds at the time.
I had the single finch with me for a week.
It was very dull and missing his buddy. After two days the smarter one came back and sat near the cage. I kept the feed out side for some days. It will come for some time in a day and will fly off. Both the finches will speak to each other : )
Finally we thought of freeing the other one too so that they will live happily together.
I opened the cage when the smarter one was around.
The finch in the cage was sitting inside for few min, and came out and sat over the cage for some time.
And they both took off happily ………………………

From that day I thought never to keep any birds in Cage.
After My Finch era,for more than 25 years, I had never kept a bird as a pet.
I wanted them to fly freely around with there family, like us ...

The Tale of Ring Neck Parrot

Birds are the amazing creatures in the world.
I had a very little knowledge about them.
I thought they are very primitive thinkers and very weak at heart.
But things got changed, when I came across ring neck parrots.
I was amazed to the core by their behaviors.
I saw the most powerful love from the little heart.
I wanted to share the magical characteristics of the cutest little bird in this blog.
