Tweetys New Ringneck parrot friend

My new ringneck parrot was very calm and very play full. It will sit in one place only during its sleeping time.
It will walk to and fro over the wooden rod. Since it’s a wild ringneck parrot. It took only grains. It did not have any other fruits or vegetables.
It restricted its diet only with grains for one month.
Then it slowly started having fruits also. It likes guava fruit very much. If we keep any fruit. It will fly down and take the fruit to its place and slowly have it. It likes to chew the guava seeds very much. Tweety was afraid of going near the new ringneck parrot.
When it first saw the adult ringneck parrot, It went near and slowly bitted the tail feather tip and ran away from the parrot : ). I had a very less hope that both of them will become friends.. I saw lots of changes in tweetys characteristics, after the new ringneck parrot arrival. That gave me a great relief...

New cage for my ringneck parrots

I bought the male ringneck parrot and to him home with a small temporary cage.
I did not have any cage at home when I bought him. So I planned to buy a cage specially for the wild parrot. I kept the new comer in the tweetys room with the small cage with fruits and a water bowl, for some time. Ringneck had some little amount of water and it poured out all the water from the water bowl. Tweety jumped from his chair, and started going around the cage : )
She was staring at the new ringneck parrots feather and slowly it went near the cage and bitted its tail feather. The new ringneck was fearing very much and started screaming and attacking tweety. Then tweety started climbing over the cage and going around the cage. I took tweety in my hand and went out of that room and kept her in other room, for some time. Next task is to buying a big cage for the new comer. I searched few shops for a decent sized cage. I found a shop finally with a big cages.. I bought one cage with 5 feet height and 3 feet width. I could not fit it inside my cars boot. So I had to hire a small van
to bring the cage to my home. i left the new ringneck parrot inside the new cage, it was able to fly inside the cage properly…
Tweety started climbing around the new cage for some time. And it stared sleeping over the cage…

Parrot sales in rural market

Some times I used to go and buy fishes from whole sale market, which is located outside the city.
I came across a person who was selling ringneck parrots in platform. It was a very difficult to see those birds. He was having a flat closed jute wired round close container with a small hole on the center of the container. I saw, almost 15 to 20 ringneck parrots in that container : (.
The worst thing added to it is. while selling the birds he plucks few of the main flight feathers of the birds and had over the birds to the people who are buying :’(.
Every Sunday morning he will come for 30 min and sell all the birds and go.
I went closer to the ringneck parrots. All the parrots are male parrots. They are all wild birds caught as a lot : (. All are grown up adult parrots. Most of them had the blue ring below the orange neck ring. I saw for the first time ringneck parrots with blue ring below the orange ring.

For me these bird catchers are heartless persons. They never know the value of the birds.
Parrots are kind of birds that not only love thire family, it also show lots of love on other living beings. It shares the love with others more superior and stronger than humans.

My friend went and bought two ringneck immediately. He is having a pair of cock tail parrot with him. I was confused a lot, whether to buy any parrot or not. Since all are bigger one, I can’t even leave with my tweety. Even I don’t have cage at home … so I was breaking my head.
Finally I came to a conclusion to buy one ringneck parrot. if my younger ringneck is not able to go along with the new fellow. I thought of letting it go… I bought one midsized parrot without harming it. I decided to buy a big cage for the new ringneck. I planned to keep it in cage till my young ringneck was ready for flight and leave both of them together to outside world..

Friends of my ringneck parrot

I have some small wooden birds at home. With those some times, I use them, to dodge tweety : )
Some times tweety when gets over my hand it will not get down easily.
Some times it will get down very soon, some times it will not get down Immediately.
So for making her go back to her place, I will place few wooden birds at her place near her food: )
Tweety does not like any birds to go near her chair and her place. I saw her full form anger when I brought my friends parrot home…
So if I keep any wooden birds. It will walk down my hand and try to attack the wooden bird. Tweety slowly started realizing about the wooden bird , And stopped responding to it….
I thought of buying a pair, for Tweety from the bird shop. I was not able to get young ringneck parrot in shops : (
Tweety never felt uncomfortable being alone at home. It always like to go out for bird watch. So when ever I take tweety to the terrace it will be very happy. So I thought of getting some good, friends for tweety. I first thought about cocktails but they are bigger in size than my young ringneck parrot. So I thought about cute little budgies, which will be the best choice for my tweety. Tweety had good quality of making friends easily.
Except crows all the birds which comes near home are my tweetys friends. It has even, squirrel friends : ).

Ringneck parrot thought process

Ringneck parrots are clever parrots. They have good thinking process.
My tweety always like to go out to the terrace, Whether it’s a day or night, it likes to stay out for some time. If its night time it likes to go to terrace only if the light is switched on.
Some times when the climate is cold I will rather switch off the light to avoid going out. I could not dodge tweety for a long time by avoiding switching on the light.
Usually tweety will stand on my hand and bend its head towards the direction it want to go : ) we should take her as per her move. If we don’t take her, she will start making loud calls.
So I always take her where ever she likes to go.
One day I was surprised to see, tweetys behavior. As usual I took her from my room to the hall without taking her to terrace. It suddenly turned her face and bend towards the switch : ). That to exactly on the terrace light switch. I could not believe my eyes ..
It exactly touched her beak on the terrace lighting switch. I took her off from the switch and I switched on the switch by myself. Once I on the switch, immediately it turned towards the terrace : ) and started bending towards the terrace with slow whispering
sound : ) . i took her out to terrace finally..
Tweety, my youngest ringneck parrot learnt how to switch on the light : )
From that day, if it likes to go out at night it will try to touch its beak on the light switch to put the light on…

Ringneck parrots territory bond

Ringneck parrots gives more importants to their territory.
My Tweety is also very serious about her room. She will not allow any other parrots inside my room : ). Once my friend went to a seven days vacation, he wanted me to take care both of his adult ringneck parrots, till he is back from vacation.
He bought two of them in two cages. One of the cage is blue and another is pink.
I kept both of the cages at my room, near tweetys cair..
Tweety started behaving restless. She slowly jumped down from chair and climbed one of the cage. She came round the cage and started going near, one of the parrots place.
It started biting the bigger female. The bigger ringneck, first avoided the tweetys
Biting and it went away from tweetys presence. After few min the bigger one also become angry and started fighting with tweety. I was confused to see the behavior of tweety .. Thank god the cage was in between both of them it protected from the attacks.
It was arround 11.30 pm at night : ) both the ringnecks screamed and fought ferociously.
I was surprised to see the amount of anger from the young ringneck parrot…
When I tried to separate tweety from that spot it even tried to attack me : (
I never seen tweety screaming like that before. I took a news paper and put over the cage to cover their eye contacts. It worked well, tweety stopped screaming and it was bit ok after some time. But it tried to remove the paper from the cage. I took tweety away from the cage and put her at her place, and removed the paper from the cage. Again tweety started screaming a lot. The bigger ringneck stopped screaming.
I tried shifting the both the new comers to the near by room. Tweety was back to normal immediately once the parrots are taken away .
Omg I saw the intensity of the anger of ringnecks at that day.

Ringneck parrot thinking

Young ring neck parrots will closely watch every movement we do.
It has a great talent of learning things very quickly. My tweety is also, a smart fellow.
On week days, I will start to office at 8 am and will be back home at 8.30 pm daily. So I have to pick tweety and keep it with me, at least for few mins at morning and night without fail. If I did not pick her, she will start making loud sounds.
She will continue making sound till I pick her. She will not leave me even if I m brushing : ) she will sit peacefully on my shoulder and keep looking around. If I come near the mirror it will play with the mirror. It will try biting the glass and its frame.
The best thing is, it will play along its mirror image. It will try moving in all the directions and see its images movement also : ) it will use its claws to clean its feathers. It will stop the movement of its leg and see suddenly what its image Is doing : )
It will stop the leg in half action flow and continue the action again seeing the mirror : )
It always like to play with it. I rarely take her near the mirror. If I take her accidently, it will always play with the mirror for longer minutes. At terrace it likes to see the birds flying around. It will always get exited if any ringneck parrots fly around.
It always closely watches the flying aircrafts by bringing her head down to 90 degree.
The best thing is it will always fear for eagles, though eagles are flying on the highest feats, tweety will get alert and hide nearer to my hand.
I always wonder how tweety knows about eagles, since tweety came home at her young age, I have a great doubt how it differentiate the birds characteristics.
It always has fear on eagles and crows, it never feared on pigeons or other non hunting birds.

Ringneck parrots speech learning phase

Tweety Is very good in observing things.
If any bird calls near my house, it will carefully listen to the voice and it replicates it exactly similar. Except crows voice it imitate to all other birds : ) . The Red vented bulbul bird is one of his best friend.

Red vented bulbul bird

Since it does not like crows, it will always try to get away from crows.
Rarely, it will imitate my speech … Since its young its vocal output is not fully matured. So when it tries to deliver human speech. Some tones with higher bass will not be exactly, same during the mimic of the speech. Birds which comes near my home does not have higher bass sound, its sound will have high pitch effect. So tweety does not find any difficulty in replicating those sounds. When it tries to imitate my speech it will give some gap and try the imitation. Tweety will be normally interested in imitation during evening times. If it tries to express some thing to us, It will use a predefined formatted sounds. For example if it calls us to pick her up. It will call in different voice and volume and if it calls for food it will call in different tone, if its very angry then its tone will be off different pitch. So we can easily differentiate its mood and the purpose of its call from its tone.

Tweety’s growing phase

When tweety came home , she hardly had feathers.
And most of the feathers she had was white feathers.
White feathers are the initial feathers they will become green when they started growing old. its beak and its toes are the fastest growing parts for her.
3 months passed after she came home. Her beak has become big and sharper. Its beak is having a long pointed sharp edge. Wild adult ringnecks parrots beak is not long pointed like young ringneck parrots beak. That because parrots use their beak as an alternate to hand.
For climbing over tree and chewing the woods will lead to decrease in sharpness.
Parrots can balance their whole body weight with its beaks byte, so their beak is very powerful.
The claws of tweety have become bigger and sharper. So when tweety walks on my hand, some times scratches will happen on my hand.
Patches of white feathers started turning to green color. Now tweety started trying to fly while it try’s to jump from any location.

Tweety back to home

I was back after ten long days …. I was very eager to meet tweety after the break ..
I actually planned like, if tweety did not like to come with me again and if it likes to be with the other parrots at my friends home, I thought of leaving her there itself …
Ringneck parrots are very sensitive and they get angry easily.
I went to my fiends home to pick up tweety. It was around 6.30 pm, she was half asleep..
I went and called her. She did not react. Then my friend call her she did not respond to him too. I was there for 10 min. she came out of her sleep, and she slowly came over my hand : ) I was happy to see tweety back to form …
I took her back to car. She climbed to her favorite position, head rest.
Once she reached home she went back to her place and started sleeping.
One of her character was changed, in the short break. It was, she like to stay on our shoulder. Before, she likes to stay only on our arm. From next day she started her regular playful activities : )

Biggest ringneck parrot

During my travel, when ever I come across parrots, i will think about tweety and spike….
I missed them very much : (
At Varanasi I was walking on the temple streets. The streets are very narrow with full of continues or close buildings on the both the side of the street. When I on the streets I heard continuous parrot calls, it was very loud. The sound seems to be not a casual call, it sounded as a desperate loud call for food. I was looking on all floors of building to see the parrots. My tweety or spike never made sound like that. I fell the sense of pain in that parrots call : (
Finally I came near the parrots location, I was surprised to see them ….
I saw a cage on the street, in that cage I saw the biggest ring neck parrot in my life.
It was a pair of Alexandrians … OMG its head diameter was equivalent to my hand in folded to first level and its beak was very huge. It can easily cut our fingers..
The orange share on its feather was magnificent. Male bird ring and its color was amazing. It had a pretty big orange band. It sound was huge ..its total length is around my hands length from my shoulder to my finger tip. It had a strong tone which is proportional to its size. The cage was too small for the birds : (
I felt very bad to see the magnificent birds in the cage : (
I prayed to god to get a good owner for them. when I came back from temple on the same way, those birds was taken away : (

10 days away from tweety

I went for a trip with my family for 10 days. So I was wondering
about tweety :(
if I am not in my room, Tweety will start calling. She does not like to be alone.
I decided to leave tweety in my friend’s home, with other parrots.
I have taken tweety in the car, only when I brought her to my home.
If I take tweety in hand .it will start playing, it will not get down from my hand till it get satisfied. I never forced tweety to get her off from my hand. I never picked her in my hand by grip. she will always hold and climb over my hand slowly.
Me and my sis went together for dropping tweety at my friends home.
Tweety was sitting at my sis hand. When we started from home, tweety jumped from my sis hand and came towards me so I took tweety in my hand, and went down to car.
Tweety sat on my shoulder when I started driving. She got afraid and climbed to the seat headrest. I reached my friends home and the next big task is to take tweety out of car and drop her inside my friends home ….
My friends daughter is an expert in handling ringneck parrots. She came and tried tweety to get out off car. After few min she was able to take her out, showing her the favorite food “Chocolate” : ). She took tweety and left in the middle of the other parrots… Tweety was silently sitting with them. i was afraid very much that the bigger parrots might attack tweety : ( but they were doing there regular task. Having food busily..
I disappeared from that place after saying bye to Tweety ….

Missing Spike …

I missed spike a lot :’( I will console, my self that spike has started its new life.
My first ringneck parrots rescue is successful …
Even tweety missed her very much. It was sad for few days.
It will go to spikes place and sit there for some time. And it will climb the grill gate were spike used to climb and sit. Since spike used to come home weekly and sit near the tree and in the terrace wall, tweety will always go out to terrace and exchange calls with her.Spike will come with its friends at morning time and in evening time.
So tweety will be prompt in getting up early and will go out to the terrace to meet her buddies, for doing this she will force me to wake up : ) too.
Tweety is so sweet and affectionate,in her presence, I always forget all my worries.

Ringneck parrots escorting characteristics

Spikes 3 ringneck parrot friends came home, to take spike with them.
One of them, sat at our terrace wall. Spike went and sat on the terrace wall near the parrot. Other parrot was sitting on the near by tree. Spike was with the parrot for few min. and it went near other parrot which sat on the cable wire, when it sat near the cable wire.
Two crows sat on the cable and tried attacking spike. Spike did not even fear a bit : )
The three parrots went and sat near spike on both sides.
And started attacking the crows : ) OMG that was an awesome Scene …
Parrots have the amazing characteristics of unity among themselves. They are very good in community living. In few seconds crows disappeared from the spot.
Spike flew back to the terrace after some time. Other parrots came along with spike
And took spike with them. : (
I was happy to see spike go get new family.
But I missed her very much :’(
Spike will come home every week with her buddies : ) it will not come inside home. It will sit on the trees near home. And will be there for few mins….
Spike will be easily differentiable with other parrots. Its size is bigger than the other parrots. Its tail feather was broken when it came home initially.
That feather is still short : ) so when ever spike comes, it can be easily spotted.

Ringneck parrot rescuing characteristics

Spike has learnt flying well. She started flying with out any mistakes.
She was able to handle the directions accurately with out any clashing during the flight.
She was also able to land at perfect spot and take off at a steady speed.
Spike had lots of parrot friends. It will daily speak to them for some time.
The parrots around home, come and sit on near by trees & building regularly on regular timings.
It was the right time for spike to start a new life.
I was afraid to leave spike alone in their natural habitat : (
But I had lots of confidence in my spike, as no one can dare to touch her. She is so good in attacking.
One fine day the time has come. Spike was doing her regular playing activities at morning. Three ringneck parrots came and sat on near by tree : )
I was seeing spike, what she is going to do ……
As usual, spike started calling towards those birds. One of the parrot came and sat on our terrace wall : ) and Other two parrots sat on the near by tree. I was amazed to see them talking very closely …
Spike went and sat near the parrot, which sat on the wall.
I did not even move a bit, I was keeping myself quite.
I did not even take my cam out as i don’t want to disturb them .They were very close to me and spike..
Things that happened next is like a movie : )

Community of ringneck parrot

I went to Delhi few months ago. I visited some tourist spots in delhi. One of the good place, I have visited is Qutab Minar. I have been to qutab minar many times. But this time I noticed some thing special. I saw a biggest community of ringneck parrots and alexandrian parrots : )
OMG there count is enormous ringneck parrots were roughly in few hundreds ……
The biggest community of parrots, which I saw in my life is at that time.
Alexandrian parrots were spotted only in few numbers in that group. They are hug in size. And its vocal sound is very strong and powerful. I could not take my eye of them.

Ringneck parrots are keeping distance from Alexandrians but their groups stayed closer.
Qutab minar is a tall tower. It is surrounded by lots trees… ringneck parrots will always stay in trees intense area. They usually nest on tall structures. Mostly there nesting is found on tall trees & tall buildup structures. I saw Alexandrian in the wild for the first time. I could not move away from that place after seeing the green beauties….
I saw lots of ringneck nesting on Qutab Minar tower too…
Voice of Alex was very powerful and echoes of its calls came frequently.
Community had grownups, smaller once and little ones flying around in groups…
I enjoyed the presence of ringneck and Alexandrian parrots very much………

Spike ready for flight

Spike’s long awaited dream for flying was finally, came to reality.
Her feathers got grown up well. Her flying exercises, which started with jumping,Has changed to directional control flying exercise, finally ….
Spike will climb to her favorite high spots and try to fly down in different angles.
Some times it tried flying down with same angles and try to reach a fixed spot.
Till it lands to a spot in a satisfactory aim and precision it will redo the fly down exercise.
It also tried, low flying exercise. it used to fly between rooms in a low height, very near to the floor.
Though spike learnt good flying techniques, it did not attempt to fly to tweety’s chair place. That showed its maturity level.
I still remember , the first day when tweety came home and spike was not a good flyer that time, climbed over a stick and reached top of the chair and tried attacking tweety …..
Now every thing changed, Spike has got the characteristics of a grown up parrot.
Day by day its flying skills got improved. And I was happy to see my dear Spike getting ready for a new life.

Young Ringneck parrot calling technique

Young Tweety is an expert in expression and calling.
it’s a born talent for her. Its way of thinking, is far beyond our imagination.
Tweety always likes to be with me.
Some times, it will sleep in my hand itself.
It will always feel secure, if it is with our family members.
So except the time of sleeping or playing, it will always try to be with us
If Tweety wants to come to me, it will first move in a such a way that it is getting ready to jump. When it does this action, it will not jump. But it will move as though its trying to jump. It will try to do this in many directions. If we look her face you can see the difference. The face expression will be equivalent to the pet dogs happy expression. Pet dogs will move its tail fast and give a smiley facial expression when it sees its owner after a short gap. Ringneck parrots facial expression is more creative and easily differentiable. Imagin a small toy with the size of our mobile phone coming towards us and smiling at us : ) we can get the same expression from the parrots, invite facial expression…..
If we don’t respond to the invitation, then it will flap its wing towards us till we pick her.
Tweety will make small sounds when it start flapping its wings. The flapping will not appear to be flying try. When it flaps the wings it will always hold its fingers very tight to the surface, to avoid take off.
If I still do not pick tweety in my hand, after it flaps its wing. It will raise its voice slowly to the peak… it will calm down and stop the calling sound if I pick her…

Wake up call

Tweety is perfect in time management. I used to get up at 6.45 am daily. I will always keep alarm at that time. I cannot getup at a particular time with out keeping alarm : )
As tweety will be always with me at my room, I started getting up early before my alarm rings. The reason behind the change is my sweet tweety! She will woke up exactly at 6.30 am daily and will also make me get up by calling me :(
I wonder how it get up exactly, at a particular time.
I have to take him out once I am up from bed. Tweety likes to go to terrace at morning, her friends usually come at that time. So daily with out fail she gets up at proper time and wakes me up …. The way she wakes me up, will be interesting.
It will start calling from a low sound with some small time intervals. Normally I used to wake up when it starts calling. If some time I sleep late, I will try to get up late. So that time I will not get up when tweety starts its initial calls.
Slowly it will increase its sound in a proportional manner like a incremental ringtone/ alarm. : ) so there is no escape from its alarm, when the sound is on peak definitely we cannot sleep. Some times if I m too tired I used to getup and open the door and go to bed again, My sis will get up from the other room and take tweety out..
Tweety will keep herself busy in wake up business till someone takes her out… : )

Ringneck parrots fight

Tweety is a follower of spike. Like spike tweety will also come near my mom and have some vegetable pieces. Tweety has to cross the spikes room to reach the hall.
If I am around spike, it will not come near tweety.
Once I was inside the other room, when tweety jumped and came towards me.
Spike as usual thought of using this chance to attack tweety.
There was a huge noise. I suddenly went to the spikes room.
I saw spike attacking tweety : (
Spike tried to attack tweety’s head and its neck. It tried to catch its neck with its beak….
Tweety suddenly rose up and started attacking spike : )
It raised it head and its small feathers, it raised its voice and opened its beak widely. Particularly its head feathers will be raised. It will show a fearsome appearance on parrots. All parrots have this common characteristics while attacking. Spiky seeing tweety’s counter attack it backed up immediately : )
Brave tweety !!! I was amazed to see a young parrots courage to face its opponent.
Even dog pups will not try counter attacking at young age.
When tweety resisted spike its was in a stage of first feather growing stage.
The first feather of the ringneck will be in white color and slowly green feathers will grow out of the white feathers.
The white feathers still remained in its body and only few feathers got grown up in its neck, the intensity of the feathers are so less that we can see its skin…..
Tweety got rewarded because of its determined act. Spike kept distance with tweety after that… : )

Tweety’s jumping technique

Tweety is too young, it does not even have tail feathers. When it walks, it will be so cute. It will keep its legs, wide apart and walk. It will look like small robots walk : )
Daily morning, I used to take tweety out from its place to the terrace. If anytime, I missed to take her out at morning, It will try to jump of the chair and come to the hall.
Jumping from the chair is a toughest stunt for tweety : )
The steps it takes before jumping will be awesome to see.
Tweety is afraid of heights, but it cannot resist itself from coming to the hall.
Before jumping, it will avoid seeing the floor. So it will turn back side and position itself.
It will walk two and fro around the edge of the chair, for around 2 minuets.it will try to jump in various ways like Front way , side way and back way. What ever fashion it tries, it will finally jump from back side : ) it will land on the floor by flapping its cute little wings.

Ringneck parrots possessiveness

Ringneck parrots are very much possessive in nature. Some times it will become more extreme.
I first saw this character with spike. I was able to notice the difference,in the character of spike after tweety came home. If I take tweety in my hand spikes face will be dim..
Some times, it will break its silence and will raise its voice ..
During the feeding time, spike is so much concern on the food. We should always keep the food first to spike then only to tweety. If some times by mistake we keep the other way around.. spike will not touch that food for hours, even if that food is spikes favorite one.
My young Tweety is more possessive than spike.. Since tweety will be always, staying in my room. It will always wants my presence, in my room if I am at home : )
I was surprised to see such a powerful bond from a little parrot …. I wonder how that little bird has sooooooooooo much love with in its little heart ……………….
I had a chance to see the rarest & powerful dimensions of love…
I will share the tweety’s amazing behaviors in the coming posts.

Spikes friends

Spike got lots of neighborhood friends. Every morning and evening it will always walk to the veranda and it will speak with its other parrots. Parrots which are flying around my home will come and sit, on the near by trees or on the compound wall. Spike will be more exited if other parrot comes and sit near home. Even tweety will speak with the guest parrots : ) . The visiting parrots will sit for few min and it will fly off.
Crows are the biggest trouble providers. They will chase out the visiting parrots immediately : (
If the parrots are sitting in a group they will stay for the long time. If crows try to attack them, they will resist the attacks, if they are in the group. If the visiting parrot is a single parrot, they will normally fly off immediately avoiding the attack from the crows.
Female parrot are more aggressive than the male parrots. So some time it will counter attack crow single handedly. So always the crows will try to keep distance with the visitors : )

Ringneck Parrot sleeping style

My tweety will sleep in three different styles.
1) It will bend its head down in front of its body
2) It will stand only in one leg and sleep with strait pose .it will be like a saint doing meditation : )
3) It will bend its neck in such a way that it head is turned back side,
its head will be kept in such a way that it will be balanced by its wings.
This style is the best style for its sleeping position.
And it will be awesome to see it in that position.
Since tweety is so young for few days some times it will fall down from chair while its sleeping : (
When ever it falls, it will walk towards me when I show my hand near it, it will climb over my hand. Then I will leave it back on chair.
One interesting thing about tweety is it does not like to be on floor : ) when ever it comes to the floor. It will come near me and wait till I show my hand. If I m not showing my hand, it will climb on my foot and stay on my foot : )
As tweety will be always be in my room. It will always face me and sit.
While sleeping also what ever position it sleeps it will position itself in a such a way that it can see me always : )
My tweety is a such a sweet heart …………..

Ringneck parrot feeding competition

Tweety is very young and it will have food properly only,
if we hand feed it.
It likes apple very much. I will take my hand near the chair. It will climb through my fingers slowly. And it will stay in my arm. And it will eat the food slowly. It likes terrace very much. so I will always take my tweety at the terrace while I feed it.
It likes to see around and imitate other birds calls. Once it Its done with its food. It cleans its beak by rubbing it in my hand : )
Ringneck parrots like sweet taste very much. My tweety is very fond of chocolates : )
it will go to its chair from my arm, only if it has sufficient food.
Grains & water bowl will be kept in her place. Sometimes it will come down from the top of the chair and have it by its own.
For 2 months I restricted her menu to fruits, grains & green vegetables.
Tweety will be always curious. What ever food we have it will like to have the same.
It observed spikes activities having vegetable near kitchen with my mom.One day to a surprise it jumped off the chair and came near my mom &

Tweety is so young and it had very few and small feathers at that time. But it jumped with out any fear : )

Tweety and Spike's first meeting

Tweety came home at night. Spike was in her regular place at the top of the grill.I showed tweety to spike, Spike did not even mind it : )
Next day morning, when I woke up, I kept a stick on the chair. One end of the stick was in the floor and other end was in the chair. I keep it to create way for the tweety to come down to the floor. But tweety did not come down. Spike slowly came inside my room and with in few seconds it climbed over the stick and went over the chair and started attacking tweety, With rough sound : (
I quickly took tweety out from the chair.
After I took tweety, spike become silent and started having the fruits which is kept over the chair. After some time spike jumped off the chair and went to her place.
Parrots are very good in attacking. it some times lead to fatal incidences.
Its beak is very sharp and powerful.
I took off the stick from the chair after this fight.
After the stick is removed spike will try to go up climbing over the chair. But It cannot go up over the chair as the chair is a old type of wheel chair and all the edges are curved and slippery. I tried keeping the stick again by locking my room. The smart young tweety came fast and pushed the stick with her beak and the stick fell on the floor
immediately : )

My Tweety

I saw a cute little parrot at my friends house. It was the youngest of the all.
Its feathers are in growing stage. And most of the feathers are white feathers.
I kept my hand near the cute little one, she saw my face and came over my hand : )
I was attracted to that cute little one very much.
The biggest surprise is my friend gave the little one to me : )
I was very happy : ) …………………………………..
We kept the little one in a box with the top opened and placed inside the car.
It sat quietly in side the box. Once I reached home I left her in the hall.
The little one will not stay on the floor as it fears a lot.. so it came back to my hand quickly.
I kept a name for the little one as “Tweety”.
I was afraid of keeping tweety in spikes room. So I decided to keep tweety in my room itself. I kept the little one over a wire chair. It liked it very much and it always stays over there.

Spikes risky stunts

My Spike is a playful parrot. It likes to do all kinds of risks while playing.
Some times it will get into troubles while doing so…
Spike likes to climb to tall spots. If it find any grill it will try all possible styles of climbing : )
It has jumped from second floor building thrice at it young age itself : )
It likes to put holes in a card board boxes. It can finish of card board box completely with in few hours.
While doing its flight training once it landed inside a small tub of soap water : )
It was flapping its wings heavily inside the water. Thank god the tub is a small one. I took it out from the tub quickly.
Many times it breaks its feathers while jumping and flying. if it breaks its feathers, it will be very sad and take the broken feather with its beak and will come before my mom & me and show the feater to us : )
Twice spike got badly hurt while jumping from the top of the grill.
Poor spike its legs got hurt very badly and it could not stand for 15 min : (
I was afraid after seeing it in that position. It closed its fingers tightly and sat down without the balance of the foot. It did not open the toes for some time. I saw the pains in its eye. I took it in hand it did not react.
I thought its toes got broke : ( then I kept her, in her place. I felt very bad seeing it suffering with pain. It did not even make any noise : ( poor spike ..
After 15 min, it slowly moved it toes. I was happy to see it moving and standing up on its toes. Spike avoided jumping from that top of the gril. For few days, I was happy to see her climbing over and climbing down the grill.
After two weeks, it again started jumping from the grill : )
Good it learnt the techniques of flying very fast.

Ringneck parrots communication skill

Parrots communication skill is more superior than other birds. It can even imitate our speech and understand our speech.
Parrots imitating sounds will be interesting to hear.
I had a wrong impression that parrots will always make noise.
But when I started closely interacting with parrots, I was able to understand the smart communication exchanges between parrots.
My spike is a quite fellow. It will speak to the parrots which fly’s regularly around home. It will not create unwanted noise when its alone.
Daily the parrots which are flying around will come and sit on the trees at home, and they talk regularly with spike. Parrots have a strongest bond with their family.
They also have rescuing characteristics. They will rescue other parrots. I have heard lots of incidence from my friends about their rescuing talents.
I have even seen it in live : ) I will post the details in a separate post…
Spike understands our speech well. Like our pet dog. Parrots can also listen and act according to our speech. Spike always like to jump and try flying from top of the tall objects : ). Spike will play more, when its in our open terrace. The terrace is roughly around 20 meters with designer walls, which are not fully covered. it had lots of small opening spaces in its design.
Spike will keep walking to and fro between both the corners of the terrace. Spike will act as per my call : ) if I say come here it will come. if I say stop,it will do the same too. And most interesting part is, if I say stop and turn back. It will stop immediately and start walking in the opposite direction : )
I used to play with it. I will fix some boundaries and I will not allow it to cross it. But it always like to cross over the boundary : ) so if I don’t say any thing it will step up the boundary lines. if I say stop and turn back it will not cross the boundary. If it cross the boundary lines it can easily jump down from second floor of the building : )
But in my presence,it had never violated my commands and jumped off …Parrots are strict followers of principles. That is their, one of the great qualities.

Time management by ringneck parrots

Nature has lots of mysteries hidden with in it.
Ringneck parrots time management skills are amazing.
If we keep scoring, on time management between me and my parrots, I will definitely loose.
I wonder how they mange time, with out having a clock with them : )
My spike does its daily routines, as per proper time schedule with out fail.
Morning it wake up at 6.30 am. And start it morning walking & flying exercise for exactly 2 hours. It will walk two and fro with in its room and also in the open terrace.
After its morning exercise session it will have some food and it will sleep till lunch time. At 1 pm it has lunch. it will play for couple of hours and around 4 to 5.30 it will start its evening walking and flying exercise session. At sharp six o clock, It will climb on the top of the grill and sit. What ever happens, it will not come down after 6 o clock in the evening. Whether day light is gone early or the day light is still brighter at 6 o clock. It does not cares, it will be on its regular schedule with out fail.
Some ring neck parrots around home can be also spotted at exact timings : )
Morning at 6 am till 7 am and at evening at 3.30 pm to 5 pm .. We cannot track them around other than these timings.
I always wonder how parrots are keeping there time management accurately.

Playful ringneck parrot

Ringneck parrots are very playful.
Except they are asleep, they like to be always busy with some activities.
My Spike started its flying lessons very hardly.
Even before its feathers are not grown up, It tried jumping from our balcony thrice : )
Spike : “Small bird with iron heart” : )
It will also try jumping and flapping its feathers while walking . It tried this exercise for many times. It even climbs over the balcony grill and try jumping from it : )
Like this my Spike has tried all kind of possible means to learn flying.
Some times, when it jumps from tall location it might break any of it feather : (
Most amazing part is ! if it breaks any of its feather, it will pick it and bring it to my room and show the broken feather and throw it in my room after showing me : )
This sounds funny to believe. But some time ringneck parrots will do some awesome and interesting things like this. They Even show great facial expressions which I love the most. Ringneck parrots always show strict focus on their goals, whether its on food habits, playing, talking, flying, attacking, loving etc. I admire there qualities a lot….

Ringneck eating habbits

My spike likes fruits very much. She is a big fan of sweet taste…
She even have some vegetables. At morning my mom will prepare me lunch for office .
When she is cutting the vegetable, spike will come near my mom regularly and have some vegetables. Ringneck parrots are smart eaters. It will hold the food in one leg and have the food slowly. The way it drinks the water is also cute…
Ringneck parrots always like to be cleaner. They will clean there feathers regularly.
I always keep a news paper half open below a Z shaped iron chair.
Spike will roam around the room and finally come over the news paper and stay in it.
Like us, Ringneck parrots also find a comfortable place and stays only in the place.
Adult ringneck parrots even fallow time discipline while having food like us.
But the younger ones are play full so proper guidance to be given for there feeding time.
It have a cute characteristic : ) after having food it will clean its beak in such a way that no food particle will remain. Spike likes to chew. So it keeps chewing some harder food stuffs like wheat grains , seeds of fruits wood etc. Ringneck parrots have also a good smelling power. Spike is an expert in sense of smelling. Where ever its playing if any food smell comes, it will come to the spot where the food is placed ..

Spikes Day out

Spike was not fully set at home for 2 days. It was very quite and it will always be in her room below the chair. From third day it started coming out of her room and was busily moving around. I was staying in the 2nd floor. Spike walked though the hall and went out through the main door. Our main doors grill was locked at that time. It climbed over the grill and went through the hole : (
I was at my room when it walked out. Thank god I came out of the room, and I noticed that spike was missing at her place. I was shocked and my family was searching all the rooms, I went down the stairs to have a look. When I went down I saw her happily jumping the last staircase : )
One of tenant located in ground floor saw the cute little spike hopping down. Tried to catch her, I tried to warn him not to do so , but it was too late. He got a massive bite in his finger from her. His finger started bleeding slightly.
After seeing it I was afraid to catch her : ) after biting him she was walking as if nothing has happened, she was walking slowly towards the car parking.. when it saw three people standing near the car parking it stopped going towards that direction. I had a small tub with me, to bring her back. I kept near her. She smartly climbed inside it… Thank god my finger got saved : )
Though spike was little bit ferocious it was bit lenient to me.

Spike's first day at home

One fine evening spike came to my home. My friend brought it.
She was very disturbed and it went and hidden inside the sofas.
At our home we have a balcony with covered with grills.
Spike after roaming under chairs and sofas, it went and sat below the chair, which was kept on the balcony. Her tails are too short to fly. So it will try to walk faster. Some times it will hop with feathers flapping.
I kept fruit in hand and called her. She did not mind any thing.
I kept some fruits and water near the chair and moved away from that place.
She slowly came near the fruit and had it.
She was very quiet. Did not even utter any sound.
Because of her history I did not even tried to touch her.
I was wondering how come the fearsome attacker was so quiet : )
The parrots, at my friends place will always make some sound or other.
I did not buy any cage for my spike. I just kept her freely she will move around her room, my room, hall and some times below my fish tank ..

My first ring neck parrot

My first parrot is a tough fellow.
One of the little one, which my friend had, attacked other young parrots.
It was very violent and its the biggest one in the group.
It had a history of worst attacking. It badly attacked a parrot at head and blood started coming : (
My friend gave this super villan to me : )
I kept her a name “Spike”.
Spike is also, ferocious in looks : ) it had a light red eye..
And a strong voice, no one can dare to touch her.
Parrots attacks can some times be very dangerous.
Beaks can make bad cuts on our body.
Some parrots can even attack cats and dogs..

I hate seeing birds in small cages.
I decided to keep spike with out any cage and will let her, fly once its fully ready for fly.
I don’t have any cage till now at my home : ).
For me, she was like a hunter dog - like dauber man.
She was a brave and smarter fellow.
Though she had more extreme characters she was very obedient. And she will listen to what ever we say. Spike, my IRON bird always rockkkkkssss…

My friend’s parrots

My friend had four young parrots.
They will be on an average age of 4 months old. Once they are well set for flying, they will be let out freely.
All the young ones has to be kept under proper surveillance till they become ready for full fledged flight.
They are very play full birds. One parrot among them is an awesome dancer.
I was stunned by its strange movements. It will look like a cool dance show.
Parrots can communicate with each other.
Some times bigger once will fight with the younger once during feeding.
He had around 2 mid sized cages. The young ones are smarter and treat the cages like their houses. They themselves will open the cage door and come out. Then when they want to go inside they will open the cage gate and lock it once they are in : )
I was stunned by seeing this behavior : )
I got so attracted to ring neck parrots by seeing these kind of awesome qualities….
